One baby was strapped on my back while the other crawled in the playground. I worked 12 hour days for months sanding and stripping wallpaper while carrying one kid. Ha! It was beginning to make sense, but was far from done. It was going to take lots of time and money and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. My three sons and I looked for treasures hidden at estate sales to reduce my expenses. Each week we would spend the week of Thursday through Saturday at garage sales and estate sales, buying old and new furniture. After that, I stenciled and polished the driveway throughout the week. My first impression was similar to... this is when my desire to repair furniture started. I kept on restoring furniture long after we furnished our house. On the streets I set up a little area and then sold a few pieces. I could outgrow the area because I had plenty of pieces that I could use. My home became a place where I would host open houses where up 1000 people would be able to view items from my first floor before purchasing them. Growing Days was created in this home. As my business flourished and so did our small family. I was trying to find that perfect balance between what it took starting a new venture and be a mommy too. Growing Days fit perfectly. The year was 2013, and my sweet daughter Nora joined our 4th baby. My business was going well however I needed a break. I made the decision to take some time off from my vintage furniture and be at home with my kids. It was exactly what I needed at the moment. However, after just a couple of minutes the phone started to ring. I was getting calls from people asking me for assistance with home improvements and design of interiors. The majority of them were those who had walked through my property during open houses for furniture! After a while, I took on clients according to my schedule. In no time, I was managing numerous accounts as well as a home remodeling business. If you'd told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I likely would have laughed. Indeed, I am laughing a little when I remember the episode.
